Thanks for visiting my blog.
My name is Veeda, I’m a writer, home cook and a family gal. I started this little food journey as a way to collect my mom’s Chinese/Thai/Lao recipes. She died from Ovarian Cancer in 2005, and during my last visit with her, she asked me to write down all her cooking instructions. Wow. Do I have a lot of catching up to do.
Besides writing about Mom’s Asian food, I’m sharing other great recipes I’ve discovered. I’m a connoisseur of all cuisine. You’ll see that I’m a sugar addict, party planner, and have a soft spot for classic comfort foods. (You can win my heart with some good ol’ fried chicken.)
This endeavor isn’t entirely my own, My husband Brendan spends as much time brainstorming in the kitchen as I do. He’s my favorite editor, the best sous-chef ever, and a great support behind this blog. While Brendan takes the majority of the photos, the talented Jonathan Canlas has been kind enough to shoot occasional food sessions when my sisters and I get together. The four of us have kind of adopted him into the family.
I’m calling this project, White Lotus Cooks, after my mom’s favorite flower. Hope you enjoy the blog as much as I do. It’s a special undertaking, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes.
